Hi Ashley,

Sure I can answer some questions:

1.When did Mininova start?

Mininova started in 2005.

2.Does Bit-torrenting help artists to distribute there creations more easily than if they were to distribute it through shops?

Yes, with bittorrent the other people that are downloading are also helping with uploading. This will greatly decrease your bandwidth costs.
But comparing shops and bittorrent is a bit like comparing apples and oranges, bittorrent distribution is mostly free while you have to pay for things in shops.

3.How can you tell if the material you are downloading is copy-written?

I'm afraid there is no fixed way to know this.

4.As an Animation Student, distribution is very important for me in order to get my films exposed. What does Mininova offer over popular video sites such as Youtube?

You can read more about this on: http://www.mininova.org/apply

1st Session

Yesterday I had my first Dissertation session with Angie. The aim of the session was to get us to come up with a lead question for our Dissertations and to also create a stratergy plan to help us work out what we need to research and how we are going to do it etc...

I found the session very useful as I found out how to present my Dissertation and what aspects I needed to include such as Appendices and Acknowledgements. I'm more confident knowing what I have to produce for the Disserttion.

5% of our grade goes to the Progress Map that we have to do. The Progress Map is used to record the work and research that you do for the Dissertation. I'm using this Blog for my Progress map.

During the session with Angie, I managed to come up with a lead question and lots of useful links from JB. I'm happy with my lead question and can't wait to get started on it.
